The Egyptian government has acquired 500 CNG dispensers and 200 compressor packages to equip new stations exclusively destined to compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling throughout the country. The agreement between Galileo and the Egyptian government, which was closed in January 2021, is part of Egypt’s initiative to increase the number of CNG stations from 306 to 1,000 by the end of 2021 as the country seeks to replace liquid fuels with natural gas, a cheaper alternative which it has in abundance in its territory.

GASTEC will install 271 dispensers and 100 compressor packages, while NGVC will have 229 dispensers and 100 compressors, points Galileo.

The first deliveries of equipment were made in May and will continue until the end of the year. The maximum production peak will be in July and, according to Galileo, 220 dispensers and 50 compressors will be manufactured in one month.

Currently, there are 360,000 CNG cars in Egypt, a figure that is expected to reach 768,000 units by the end of 2023, according to the Egyptian government.
