Best Twin Strollers 2024 - Forbes Vetted

There are a lot of factors at play when searching for the best twin stroller. You want something that complements your lifestyle, is easy to navigate and fits in your car or through your doorway. One of the biggest choices you’ll have to make is whether to buy a tandem or side-by-side stroller. “Traditional double strollers, where the children are seated side-by-side, are naturally wide. If you will be using the stroller for running errands, consider maneuverability,” says child safety expert Holly Choi. “A tandem stroller, where the seats are not side-by-side but instead tiered, is more convenient for situations like grocery shopping, where a narrower stroller is easier to manage.”

The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is our pick for the best twin stroller. Lightweight Pushchair

Best Twin Strollers 2024 - Forbes Vetted

In my experience as a mom of twin 2-year-olds, it’s important to consider your kids’ ages and their relationship with each other when deciding what type of stroller to buy. Some twins feel a pull to be together and do better in a side-by-side stroller, while others tend to bicker and do better in a tandem stroller.

The best twin stroller is designed for kids of the same age. Many traditional double strollers are designed for one older kid and one younger kid, and they may not be suitable for two children of the same age. When searching for a twin stroller for newborns, it’s important to find one that can safely hold either two bassinets or two car seats. For older kids, you want a stroller that has the same weight limit for both seats. Our top pick, the Bugaboo Donkey 5 Twin Stroller does all of these things and more; we also like that it brings your babies close to you and has ample storage.

Best Twin Stroller Overall: Bugaboo Donkey 5 Twin Stroller

Best Value Twin Stroller: Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger

Best Narrow Twin Stroller: Graco Duoglider Double Stroller

Best Lightweight Twin Stroller: Uppababy G-Link 2

Best Twin Stroller For Toddlers: Joovy Kooper X2

Best Twin Stroller For Newborns: Peg Perego Ypsi

Best Twin Stroller For Growing Families: Zoe Twin V2

Stroller weight: 32.8 pounds | Stroller width: 29 inches | Car seat compatible: Yes, with two seats at a time | Weight limit: 48.5 pounds per seat | Tandem or side-by-side: Side-by-side

There’s no doubt about it, the Bugaboo Donkey 5 Twins Stroller is pricey. However, it’s made of high-quality materials and it comes with two bassinets. This means you can use it for newborn twins without purchasing any extras, which is not the case for most strollers. Additionally, the frame can accommodate two Bugaboo car seats at the same time, but you’ll need to purchase those separately. Another nice thing about this stroller is that the car seats or bassinets sit side-by-side and close to you while you push. The bassinets are also ventilated, which can help prevent babies from getting too hot.

The Bugaboo Donkey 5 can also be used as a single stroller, with the ability to narrow the width and add additional storage. This is a nice feature because there are times when I only take one twin out, and I like to be able to convert a stroller down to a single. This is also good if you are planning to have more kids in the future and want to be able to use this stroller for one baby. For older kids, the seats can recline flat independently, and the seat fabric is very soft. It also has large tires with all-wheel suspension, which makes it easy to push.

Stroller weight: 32.5 pounds | Stroller width: 31.5 inches | Car seat compatible: No | Weight limit: 50 pounds per seat | Tandem or side-by-side: Side-by-side

The Baby Trend Expedition Jogger is a great price for a double stroller that’s nice sturdy stroller that’s easy to use. While not suited for newborns, this double stroller is great for twins from the age of 6 months until they weigh 50 pounds. It provides a roomy, comfy seat for each child with multi-position individually-reclining seats. Larger wheels in the back make for an easy push, for both jogging and everyday use. The stroller comes with a parent tray with two cup holders and a covered storage compartment, making it easier to store all the things twins need. It also has a spacious storage compartment below the seats.

Another perk is inflatable tires, like the kind you find on a bike. “Folks sometimes forget that twins don’t always grow at the same rate, and if you have a side-by-side stroller, you are going to veer towards the side of the heavy baby,” says Natalie Diaz, author of What to Do When You're Having Two. She says that with inflatable tires, you can adjust the tire pressure so that the stroller always goes straight.

Stroller weight: 27.4 pounds | Stroller width: 20 inches | Car seat compatible: Yes, with two seats at a time | Weight limit: 40 pounds per seat | Tandem or side-by-side: Tandem

Whether you live in an old home with narrow doorways or frequently navigate busy store aisles, sometimes it can be nice to have a narrow stroller for twins. I also find that my 2-year-old twins do better in a narrow tandem stroller where they can’t steal each other's snacks or fight over toys. The Graco Duoglider Double Stroller keeps twins separated, is very narrow and is also budget-friendly.

This stroller can also accommodate two infant car seats at the same time, so you can use it for newborns or toddlers. Note that the toddler seats have a weight limit of 40 pounds per seat (a bit lower than many other brands), so your twins may outgrow this stroller by 3 or 4 years old. It has a one-hand fold, which can be a huge perk when you’re trying to manage two kids. Each seat has a child tray and footrest to keep your twins happy and comfy. It also comes with a parent tray with two cup holders.

Stroller weight: 22.3 pounds | Stroller width: 28.5 inches | Car seat compatible: No | Weight limit: 55 pounds per seat | Tandem or side-by-side: Side-by-side

If you want a side-by-side stroller but also need something easy to maneuver in small spaces, this is a great option. Double strollers for twins are inherently heavier than most single strollers, but the Uppababy G-Link 2 is only 22.3 pounds, making it the lightest of our picks. It’s also 28.5 inches wide, which is the narrowest of the side-by-side strollers on our list. “If you are in an apartment or your home is up a flight of stairs with no elevator access, choosing a lightweight stroller may be the better choice,” says Choi, who hails this stroller as a wonderful lightweight option. It also has a carry strap to make it easier to transport while folded.

Note that this stroller is not compatible with infant car seats or bassinets, so you’ll need to wait until your twins are 3 months old. On the other hand, the maximum weight per seat is 55 pounds, which is higher than most others, so you can use this stroller with bigger kids compared to other brands. The seats recline independently and it has multiple storage areas, including an under-the-seat basket, and comes with a removable cup holder.

Stroller weight: 28 pounds | Stroller width: 30.3 inches | Car seat compatible: No | Weight limit: 50 pounds per seat | Tandem or side-by-side: Side-by-side

The Joovy Kooper X2 comes with child trays, which is an absolute must for toddlers so they have a place for their snacks, drinks and toys. We also like that it has wide seats and extra headroom to make sure toddlers and preschoolers are comfortable. A side-by-side stroller that does not accept an infant car seat, it’s safe to use once your twins are 3 months old. Diaz explains that a side-by-side stroller is nice once kids are old enough to get in on their own because they can each climb into their seat. With a tandem stroller, you likely have to lift up the child into a higher seat—which gets harder as tots grow.

The Joovy Kooper X2 has plenty of room to store all the things toddlers need with the large under-basket storage, zipper pockets behind the seats and mesh drink holders that are great for water bottles. The seats and leg rests recline independently, so each child can get uniquely comfortable. While you can’t use this seat with newborns, the 50-pound weight limit per seat is generous, so this stroller can likely last you and your twins through the preschool years.

Stroller weight: 29 pounds | Stroller width: 20 inches | Car seat compatible: Yes with two seats at a time | Weight limit: 50 pounds per seat | Tandem or side-by-side: Tandem

When choosing a stroller for newborn twins, it’s important to find something that can accommodate either two car seats or two bassinets at the same time. The Peg Perego Ypsi does both, and the tandem seats are comfortable for your toddlers or preschoolers until they outgrow the stroller at 50 pounds. This is one of the go-to strollers I use with my 30-pound twins. It’s a very narrow stroller; in fact, it’s as narrow as our best narrow stroller pick, and it’s a dream to push. The seat fabric is plush, and there’s a generous storage area under the seats.

As it’s sold above, it’s a single stroller, so you need to purchase additional items to make it work for twins (although Strolleria does offer a twin-ready package with two seats). Like our overall pick, you can always convert this stroller back to the single configuration if you’re only taking one twin out or if you use it later for another baby. “Before you buy, consider how you would like to see your children when using the stroller and ensure that seating combination/orientation is possible,” says Choi. The combinations for this stroller are virtually endless, and the only one it cannot accommodate is using one bassinet and one car seat at the same time.

Stroller weight: 23 pounds | Stroller width: 29 inches | Car seat compatible: Yes, but only one car seat | Weight limit: 45 pounds per seat | Tandem or side-by-side: Side-by-side

The Zoe Twin V2 Stroller is a popular pick for large families and new twin parents who plan to have more kids in the future, because you can add additional seats to make it a triple or quadruple stroller. Diaz likes the Zoe Twin V2 for families of multiples because it’s so versatile.

It can only hold one car seat at a time, so it’s best once your twins are out of the newborn stage. It’s very lightweight for a double stroller, and it includes storage under the seat, a parent cup holder, and two child cup holders and snack cups. The seats and footrests adjust independently, making the ride customizable for each child. It’s also one of the narrowest side-by-side strollers on our list at 29 inches wide. It’s very easy to fold, and gets nice and flat for storage in your trunk or home.

Here at Forbes Vetted, we’ve tested hundreds of products and deeply research every item we recommend. We monitor government websites for recalls and consult with health and safety experts about what to look for in products like strollers. As a mom of twin 2-year-olds, I’ve used various tandem and side-by-side strollers. To find the best for this list, I combined my experience with strollers and product testing as a journalist with thorough research on twin strollers. I also spoke to two experts in the field: safety expert Holly Choi and fellow twin mom Natalie Diaz, the author of What to Do When You're Having Two and founder of Twiniversity.

When choosing strollers, I prioritized those that are built for two kids of the same age. I looked for strollers that are either compatible with two infant seats simultaneously or have the same limit on both toddler seats. All of the strollers on the list meet one of those requirements, and many meet both. I analyzed the specs of each stroller, including height and weight limits to see how long a stroller can be used, as well as dimensions and weight to determine its portability and ease of use. I also looked for features that can make life easier for twin parents—such as ample storage, cup holders and tray accessories and smooth maneuverability.
